Last week we went to an Asian mall and market to “refuel” and picked up a batch of immersion goodies, including an overload of 赤みそ and お好みソース! Right now (and not pictured) ピーチガール is playing in the background and keeping me company while I work. I’ve been trying to think of ways to post more while I’m in the “boring” part of our Japanese journey, but I’m not sure what else to add. I had someone tell me today they were surprised 永次 and I are still studying. Well, what do we post while we’re learning the kanji? (We’re definitely still studying. We’ve each learned about 250 kanji!!) But the comment has me thinking, and I have a lot of ideas floating around as to what we can share and do, so hopefully I’ll come up with something soon.

What DVDs did you get? I am needing a Japanese shopping excursion.

Every once and a while there definitely needs to be some refueling going on. Sometimes a new movie to watch 100x is just the thing.

For animated films we picked up Oblivion Island: Haruka & The Magic Mirror and 5 Centimeters Per Second.

Anime was Peach Girl (my guilty pleasure), Bleach (for both of us), and a DBZ movie (Eiji’s!)

Then we picked up some live action films. 悪人 and Nodame Cantabile (the movie), which we know nothing about so hopefully they are good. And the last two are Norwegian Wood and Okuribito, both of which I’ve been very eager to see!

We spent about $60 not including the food and things we brought home- but it was much needed!

I will let you know how the movies pan out!

(I’m so glad to see you’re still studying too.)

This is a great thing to share! I love hearing about your immersion environment, it inspires me to do the same 🙂 And that bubble tea looks delicious!

Thanks! I’ve been wanting to make some at home, I just haven’t picked up the tapioca balls or the syrup yet. I can’t wait, though.
